Word & Music

Bible readings, prayers, reflection and music woven together form the worship service at
 St. Andrew´s Church.

God´s Word is enhanced by congregational singing in many different styles of music from various countries: Taize, traditional, folkloric, gospel and modern using the Church Hymnary, Fourth Edition (CH4) as the reference to the sung WORD.

Our aim is to encourage youth by giving them opportunities as participants in the service; from distributing percussion instruments to children for their hymns, to inviting young pianists, singers, instrumentalists and youth choirs to share their gifts in the service.
St. Andrew´s has hosted concerts in conjunction with Fundacao Gulbenkian and will continue these concerts at regular intervals.

(Johann Billton, a young Swedish pianist,is one of the many talents that come and participate, playing the hymns and classical liturgy during the prelude, offertory and postlude of the church service.)

(Large ensembles of the Solistas de
 Orquestra Gulbenkian have played in
both the worship service and concert series hosted at St. Andrew's Church.)
